Player of the Year 1992 Nick Hunt
1ST XI REPORT 1992 This was our first season in division 1B after our promotion last year. Everything started very well collecting 34 out of a possible 36 points. But things did start to get worse and we lost the next four games to some very useful sides such as the eventual champions Thoresby Colliery, Milton and Kiveton Park. The pattern for the season was very up and down, as well as losing four matches to the weather. Victories at Sheepbridgeand Killamarsh towards the end of the season secured our sixth position in the table. The batting was generally good with Nick Hunt's century against Whitwell the outstanding knock of the season. Other good performances came from Geoff Brown, Kamran Afzaal, Jamie Hart, Mick Clift and John Anderton. We struggled more on our bowling and missed a good strike bowler, but there were great efforts from Dave Walls, Adrian Melbourn, Jamie Hart (again) and Peter Fenghali. Overall we did very well. We are a young side and competed against some very good sides who often had professionals. I would like to thank Richard Manning and Bill Bennett for their work on the ground, Freda Melbourn for her teas and Percy Cox for his scoring, a job that I cannot thank him enough for. So everything looks good for next year, a young but more experienced side and ~I wish Nick Hunt every success in his new role. Simon Ashley (captain). |
