1ST XI REPORT 1979

A glance at the 1979 final table shows that Caythorpe were amongst the 4 teams which finished on 32 points as joint runners-up to Thurgarton. However Caythorpe slumped to the bottom half of the table when these teams were placed by the "wickets into runs" rule. Top individual score was Graham Ayres' 69 against Gedling whilst Alan Hunt once again lead the batting averages and was the leading scorer. But during an indifferent season for the club's batsmen it is pleasing to report that the bowlers once again distinguished themselves with Mick Baker leading the averages. Simon Barefoot secured the S.N.V.L. Catching Trophy with 15 catches and 5 stumpings.
