1ST XI REPORT 1977

The first and second elevens both possessed depth and quality in their bowling and frailty with their batting. The exception was skipper Alan Hunt who began with three fifties, averaged 35 and scored three times as many runs as anyone else. Martyn Justice's 30 wickets at 7.9 won the Division 1 bowling award, being chased home by Pat Merrin who took 21 wickets at 8 runs a piece. Our attack was completed by Mick Baker (15 wickets) and Ian Melbourn (14). Always in the top 3 places, the first team eventually finished third although they beat the Champions Thurgarton by over 100 runs in July.
