1ST XI REPORT 1975
The summer of 1975 was
glorious and enabled the club to complete all but one of 40 arranged matches.
Winning 23, drawing 3 and losing 13. A number of club records were broken and
one of the most pleasing was David Plaistow's innings of 102 not out against
Hoveringham, this being the first century scored by a Caythorpe player at home.
Ironically Bill Payne hit 112 on the following Saturday having scored a fine 102
not out earlier in the season at Hoveringham, this being his maiden century. The
club's first ever single wicket competition was a great success and won by Tony
Eatherington who defeated Ian Melbourn in the final.
